Translational Core – Test

Neuromusculoskeletal and MetabolicMetabolic, Neuromuscular and Skeletal

The Metabolic, Neuromuscular and Skeletal Core provides assessments specific to skeletal muscle contraction, architecture, volume and oxidative capacity. Bone density is measured along with dietary intake, total body

Cardiovascular & Pulmonary

The Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Core provides state-of-the-art assessments specific to the heart, lungs and circulatory system. Studies to map the neural circuits that control blood pressure and lung function enable interventions such as spinal cord Epidural Stimulation (scES).

Biostatistics and Outcomes

Our Biostatistics and Outcomes Core is dedicated to the comprehensive analysis of the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions that individuals with spinal cord injury undergo. The results of such analyses are then used to inform the design of continued or subsequent therapeutic interventions. Using a collaborative approach within the Translational Research division of the Kentucky Spinal Cord Injury Research Center (KSCIRC) at the University of Louisville, the Biostatistics and Outcomes Core conducts research and support activities regarding the individual and collective outcomes related to Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) across the continuum of care and across the lifespan. This core analyzes how the health of individuals with SCI is affected in the real world based on their own reported experiences and detailed analyses of data coming from the KSCIRCScientific Cores as well as all relevant external data.
